Special nature reserve of Uvac is entity which highlights Serbia on the tourist map. Located in southwest of Serbia, at the crossroads of three republics, surrounded by three mountains - Zlatar, Jadovnik and Javor. Initial altitude starts at 760m and in some parts reaches 1.320m, which makes it a unique air resort. Central part is the Canyon of Uvac river, which is surrounded by steep cliffs that are cut into winding meanders.
An indispensable comapanion of this unusual landscape is Griffon Vulture, whose habitat is in the heart of the reserve. Its role is irreplacable in the food chain, since it feeds on dead animals remains and thus performs natural recycling. So, HE is not a predator, HE does not kill, HE does not hunt, but HE is an ecologist with a wingspan of 3.5 m. An integral part of the reserve is Ice Cave. About 6 km long, it provides a unique experience to the visitor as he walks along the secured path, enjoying the view of many natural decorations.
Great way to see Uvac lake and surroundings. We were with small kids and captain took us to a slightly easier climb to the view point, so kids were able to climb. The views of Uvac lake with eagles above are astonishing and unforgettable.
Definitely a must do experience if you are in the area.
